Woman’s estate seeks compensation following fatal car crash

Hornewer

A Cook County estate administrator filed a lawsuit against an individual, claiming wrongful death along with vehicular negligence in a 2013 accident that allegedly killed a Cook County woman.

Donald Hoss brought a complaint as independent estate executor of the estate of Patricia D. Larson, deceased, against Betty Cardis of Chicago on June 30 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging several counts of negligence in the decedent’s July 2013 passing.

According to the filing, Patricia D. Larson died on July 3, 2013, allegedly as a result of an auto accident. The suit states that Larson was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Keyaunna Boyce traveling westbound on Touhy Avenue near its intersection with Greenwood Avenue in Park Ridge.

The suit states that Cardis improperly attempted to make a left-hand turn from Touhy onto Greenwood, consequently colliding with the passenger side of Boyce’s automobile.

Court documents indicate that Cardis failed to exercise reasonable care, keep a proper lookout, reduce her speed according to the traffic conditions, yield the right of way and avoid a collision.

Larson purportedly sustained critical injuries causing pain and suffering, poor quality of life, medical expenses in an effort to save her life, and funeral expenses.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $50,000 plus attorneys’ fees and costs and is represented by Charles A. Hornewer of Hornewer Law Firm in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L006762.
