A Delta Air Lines customer is suing the parties she alleges caused her to fall at Midway Airport and sustain injuries.
Veronica Miller filed a lawsuit July 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against the city of Chicago, Chicago Midway International Airport and Delta Air Lines Inc., alleging negligence and carelessness.
According to the complaint, on July 8, 2014, Miller suffered a fall on the carpet mat in the Delta terminal of the airport.
The suit alleges the defendants were careless and negligent in controlling an area (the terminal entrance's door two on the upper level), allowing the entryway mat to be sticking up, failing to maintain the mat so it wasn't sticking up, not warning Miller of an unsafe condition, and failing to provide her with a wheelchair, even though it had been requested when she bought her ticket.
As a result, the lawsuit states, the plaintiff sustained injuries to her limbs, body and head, pain and suffering, and medical expenses.
Miller seeks damages in excess of $150,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Howard S. Abrams of Dworkin and Maciariello in Chicago.
