A bicyclist is suing two other cyclists, alleging negligence for injuries sustained in a bike trail accident.
Armen Kelikian filed a lawsuit July 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against Thomas Delvin and Kathleen Toscano.
According to the complaint, at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27, 2013, Kelikian was riding a bicycle south on the Chicago lakefront bicycle trail near Oak Street Beach, when a bike ridden by Delvin with Toscano as a passenger, heading north on the same trail, collided with Kelikian's. The suit says Kelikian fell to the ground and sustained "severe and permanent injuries," and incurred medical expenses.
The suit says the defendants failed to decrease speed to avoid a collision when approaching another bike, apply brakes, keep a proper lookout, maintain control, operate the bike at a safe speed, operate the bike with adequate brakes, keep the bicycle from crossing the center line and operate in the correct lane.
Kelikian seeks damages in excess of $100,000, plus costs--$50,000 from each defendant. He is is represented by Rosenfeld, Hafron, Shapiro and Farmer of Chicago.
