Walgreens targeted in slip-and-fall accident

A customer is suing Walgreens, alleging injuries she suffered after slipping on a wet floor at one of its stores.

Janet McPartlan filed a lawsuit July 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co., doing business as Walgreens, and Bond Drug Co. of Illinois.

According to the complaint, on July 13, 2013, McPartlan was at the Walgreens at 800 Devon Ave., Park Ridge, where she slipped on a slippery floor and fell, injuring herself. The suit says the defendants failed to maintain an area that presented a danger to customers, disregarded customers' safety and also failed to maintain its property, give McPartlan warning of a hazard, exercise due care, provide a safe way to come in and out of the store, and provide a safe premises.

The plaintiff complains of injury, pain and suffering, and medical expenses.

McPartlan seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Michael F. Sullivan of Kralovec, Jambois and Schwartz in Chicago.
