A customer is suing the owners of a Schaumburg market, alleging negligence after she fell on a slippery floor.

Syeda Zafer filed a lawsuit July 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Roundy's Supermarkets Inc, doing business as Mariano's Pharmacy, and Roundy's Illinois, doing business as Mariano's Fresh Market, alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on March 23, 2014, Zafer was at the defendant's place of business at Barrington and Golf roads in Schaumburg, and while in the produce section she slipped and fell on produce or some form of debris, which caused her to fall and become injured.

The suit says the defendants failed to keep the floor clean, regularly inspect the area, warn customers about a potential dangerous condition and provide an alternative route.

The plaintiff alleges she sustained injury, pain and suffering, disability, loss of a normal life and income, and medical expenses.

Zafer seeks damages of more than $100,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Jay S. Sheth of Downers Grove.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L063055.
