Commuter alleges injuries boarding rail car

Metra

A commuter is suing METRA, alleging injuries suffered while entering a train.

Edward Collins filed a lawsuit July 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp., doing business as METRA.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 13, 2014, Collins attempted to board a commuter train at the Kensington/115th Street commuter station but he was injured in an unspecified way.

The suit says Metra failed to assist passengers entering a train, follow protocol by failing to inspect the plaintiff's ticket, and use an adequate second-look procedure for observing platforms when departing a station.

As a result, the plaintiff alleges he sustained injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of a normal life and medical expenses.

Collins seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Paul M. McMahon of Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L007257.
