CHICAGO -- A man's estate is suing a doctor and his practice for allegedly failing to care for him properly before he died of coronary heart disease.
Debra Hankin, as administrator of the estate of Todd Hankin, filed a complaint on July 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Robert D. Rozner and Hobson Meadows Family Medicine SC.
On Oct. 23, 2013, Todd Hankin went to see Rozner complaining of chest pain.
According to the complaint, Rozner was negligent in failing to evaluate him for having chest pains and abnormal ECG results; schedule a follow-up appointment earlier than two weeks later; evaluate him despite two weeks of abnormal ECG results; send him to an emergency room; order tests like a stress echo test to rule out a blocked coronary artery; and educate and provide enough information to Todd Hankin about his chest pain and coronary heart disease.
As a result, Todd Hankin soon died thereafter, according to the lawsuit.
The plaintiff, citing two counts of wrongful death, seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs.
