A Cook County insurance firm is suing a Chicago motorist on behalf of its client, alleging liability in a motor vehicle accident.

Sentinel Insurance Company, as subrogee of Arabic School of Chicago, filed a lawsuit July 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against Colon Domingo Miller, also known as Domingo S. Colon, also known as Domingo S. Miller, also known as Domingo Colon-Miller, also known as Domingo Miller-Colon, alleging vehicular negligence in the 2014 automobile-property collision.

According to the filing, at 5 a.m. Jan. 19, 2014, the defendant was operating his 2003 Cadillac CTS northbound on Central Avenue near the intersection of Schubert in Chicago when he lost control of his automobile. The suit states the defendant crashed into the front of a building at 2700 North Central owned and/or occupied by the Arabic School of Chicago, causing property damage.

Sentinel Insurance holds Miller responsible for the incident, alleging failure to control his vehicle and drive safely to avoid damaging the plaintiff’s insured business. The defendant is also charged with fleeing the scene of the accident.

The suit says the school sustained property damages of more than $31,000. The suit states Sentinel paid the Arabic School $30,273.24, and that the school also sustained a loss of $1,000 for its deductible amount.

Sentinel Insurance seeks damages of $31,273.24, plus attorney fees and costs. It is represented by attorney Gregory Oltman of Oltman Law Group in Chicago.
