A Cook County woman is suing over claims that she was injured in the aisles of a home improvement retail store.

Delores Villafuerte filed a lawsuit July 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Home Depot Inc., citing negligence.

According to the claim, Villafuerte was shopping at a Home Depot Store at 2803 Cicero Ave. in Cicero on Aug. 31, 2013, when she slipped and fell in water on the floor, resulting in physical and emotional injuries and requiring her to spend money for medical care and treatment.

Villafuerte is seeking damages of more than $50,000, plus the costs of the suit for the Home Depot’s alleged negligence to not tend to a roof leak and to allow water to fall and collect in the store, the claim states.

She is being represented by Carl H. Ebert and Associates of Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L007640.
