A Cook County woman is suing a nursing home on Chicago's West Side, alleging staff allowed her elderly relative to fall and suffer injuries.
Yolanda Davis, as guardian of the estate of Dorothy Ruffin, filed a lawsuit July 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jackson Square Skilled Nursing and Living Center, a division of Illinois-based Jackson Corp., citing negligence.
According to the claim, the Jackson Square Skilled Nursing and Living Center practiced careless judgment while caring for Ruffin, despite knowing of her current condition of limited mobility and dementia, which caused her to fall during the night of Nov. 14, 2014, at which time she suffered injuries and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for medical treatment.
Davis is seeking damages of more than $50,000, the claim states.
She is being represented by Susan E. Loggans & Associates, of Chicago.
