A Cook County woman is suing a hospital, alleging negligence in her father’s death.
Nicole Hoidahl, administrator of her father Ralph Kranenburg’s estate, filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center and THC-Chicago Inc., dooing business as Kindred Hospital Chicago Central, alleging negligence in Kranenburg’s death.
According to the complaint, Kranenburg developed multiple deep-tissue pressure ulcers during his stay at Presence and Kindred between Aug. 21-Oct. 8 2013. On Sept. 11, Kranenburg was transferred to Kindred, where the plaintiff alleges the sores grew in size and severity. He was sent back to Presence on Oct. 4, where his sacral ulcer became necrotic and he was discharged Oct. 18, 2014, with his ulcers unresolved, the lawsuit notes.
Between the time of his discharge and his death April 20, 2014, Kranenberg underwent several debridement treatments for his ulcers, as well as the administration of antibiotics, at several other facilities, the suit says.
Hoidahl seeks unspecified damages under the Illinois Wrongful Death Act and the Survior Act for loss of companionship, loss of society and other injuries, losses and damages. He is represented by attorneys Paul D. Richter and Caitlin K. Finnegan of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
