A lawsuit brought by a Poplar Grove man against his doctor and a Rockford medical facility for alleged complications arising from neck surgery has been dismissed.

According to Cook County court records, the action brought by a plaintiff Michael J. Griffin against the Rockford Health System, doing business as Rockford Medical Center; Fred Sweet, M.D.; and Rockford Spine Center LTD; was dismissed voluntarily on Dec. 14, 2015.

The lawsuit had alleged three counts of negligence during an Aug. 15, 2013, operation to remove previously installed spinal hardware. The previous operation occurred on Dec. 18, 2012, at another facility, which is not named in this lawsuit.

Attorneys James A. Karamanis and Kenneth A. Nazarian of the Chicago firm Barney & Karamanis LLP represented Griffin. The suit sought damages of more than $50,000.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-008409.
