ComEd sues medical center over claims of unpaid bills

Commonwealth Edison Co. is suing a doctor and surgical center for more than $40,000 in allegedly unpaid electric bills.

ComEd filed suit Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division, against the defendants Dr. Aref Senno, the Peterson Building Fund and Peterson Medical Surgi-Center S.C., citing failure to pay for electrical service through Aug. 18.

According to the suit, the Peterson Building Fund owes $25,615.98 for electricity provided by the plaintiff between July 29, 2013, and July 28, 2015. In addition, the Peterson Medical Surgi-Center owes $16,424.61 in charges accrued during the same period. Statements submitted with the lawsuit filing claim that beginning two years ago, the defendant only paid partial amounts toward the amounts they owed.

Attorney Helga Possler, in-house council for the plaintiff, is representing ComEd in the lawsuit, which seeks payment of $42,042.59 in unpaid bills, plus interest, court costs and other remuneration the court sees fit.
