A woman is suing a property manager following an elevator accident, claiming injuries due to the event.
Melissa Correa-Davis filed a complaint Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against Cushman & Wakefield of Illinois Inc., alleging negligence.
The complaint states that on Nov. 5, 2013, at the premises located at 177 S. Commons Ave. in Aurora, a property managed by the defendant, Correa-Davis attempted to enter elevator No. 2, when the elevator doors shut onto her right arm. The complaint alleges that the defendant had prior knowledge that the elevator did not function properly and was in need of maintenance, and that the elevator doors had in fact shut on other people prior to this incident.
As a result of the defendant's negligence, Correa-Davis suffered both temporary and permanent injuries and has incurred and will continue to incur medical expenses.
Correa-Davis seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of the suit.
She is represented by Mario C. Palermo of Woodruff Johnson & Palermo in Aurora.
