A man is suing an individual for allegedly shooting him in a 2015 altercation in the city of Chicago.
Earl R. Casteel brought a lawsuit against Thaddeus Richardo Jimenez on Sept. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division alleging that the man shot him in the legs in August.
The suit states that the plaintiff was a pedestrian on West Belle Plaine Avenue near its intersection with North St. Louis Avenue in Chicago on Aug. 17 when Jimenez, operating a motor vehicle and/or on foot, deliberately shot Casteel in both his right leg and left leg.
According to the complaint, Jimenez acted either with a conscious disregard or reckless disregard for the plaintiff’s safety.
Charging the defendant with intentionally reckless conduct, and arguing that Jimenez knew or should have known that shooting him twice “posed a high probability of physical harm to the plaintiff,” Casteel claims that he sustained severe and permanent disabling injuries, pain and anguish, and medical expenses for the treatment of his injuries.
The plaintiff demands punitive damages, judgment of more than $50,000, and attorneys’ fees and costs. He is represented by The Law Office of Kevin O’Brien in Chicago.
