A Cook County man is suing his former employer, alleging wrongful termination.

Steven Sanders filed a lawsuit Sept. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against IntegraMed America Inc., Fertility Centers of Illinois, and Angeline Beltsos.

According to the complaint, Sanders was hired as health insurance claims manager for IntegraMed in 2000. In 2013, Sanders allegedly declined to train two new co-workers who had been hired by Beltsos on how to use the practice’s patient management software. He refused, the suit says, because he believed doing so would expose patient information in violation of health insurance portability and accountability laws.

The lawsuit states because of his refusal to train the employees, he was terminated April 10, 2015.

Sanders seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorney Daniel R. Sanders of Palatine.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-009801.
