A widower is suing a hospital and nursing home over allegations of the wrongful death of his wife.

Roy Nelson, independent administrator of the estate of Christine Nelson, filed a lawsuit Sept. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division against the following defendants: THC Chicago Inc. doing business as Kindred Hospital-Chicago, North; Alden-Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Inc.; Alden Management Services Inc.; VHS Acquisition Subsidiary Number 3 Inc., doing business as Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital; K. House, R.N.; C. Ubawlke, R.N.; I. Park, R.N.; and Glencrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre Ltd, citing wrongful death.

According to the lawsuit, between Nov. 23, 2011, and until her death Sept. 27, 2013, Christine Nelson stayed for various lengths of time at the defendants’ facilities. During this time, the claim states that she developed numerous pressure ulcers and wounds on various areas of her body. Because of sepsis from her many wounds, the suit says she had a heart attack on June 17, 2013, and passed away Sept. 27. The plaintiff alleges the defendants’ neglect led to Christine Nelson’s wounds and ultimately to her death.

Roy Nelson is seeking a jury trial and damages in excess of the court's requisite. Attorney Jacqueline Kanter of the Chicago firm Kralovec, Jambois and Schwartz is representing the plaintiff.

Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division case number 2015-L-009817.
