A Cook County woman is suing a hospital and nursing home, alleging wrongful death in the passing of her mother.

Alma Green, independent administrator of the estate of Jacqueline Green, filed a lawsuit Sept. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Mercy Hospital and Medical Center and St. Agnes Manor Inc., doing business as St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehabilitation, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff’s mother, Jacqueline Green, was a resident of St. Agnes in Chicago between Jan. 3-April 4, 2014, with intermittent hospitalizations at Mercy Hospital. During this time, the suit says, Jacqueline Green developed a pressure ulcer that increased in size and severity. By March 13, the lawsuit states, the wound had become unstageable, necrotic and infected.

The suit alleges the defendants’ negligence led to Jacqueline Green’s death April 4, 2014.

Alma Green seeks more than $50,000 in damages. She is represented by attorney Ryan E. Yagoda of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-009628.
