Family sues Manocare of Arlington Heights, alleing negligence in relative's death

The family of a deceased relative is suing an Arlington Heights nursing home facility, alleging negligence.

Landers Oliver, independent administrator of the estate of Virgie Oliver, deceased, filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court  against Manocare Health Services doing business as Manocare of Arlington Heights, and Manocare at Arlington Heights, and HCR Manor Care. 

According to the complaint during Virgie Oliver's residency at Manocare, the staff failed to exercise reasonable and ordinary care for, her which resulted in her death. The suit says as a result of the defendants' negligence Oliver suffered significant weight loss, lack of adequate oral intake, nutritional deficits and developed a sacral pressure sore that deteriorated and became infected.

Virgie Oliver died Dec. 21. 2013.

The suit alleges the defendant carelessly and negligently failed to care for Oliver's nutritional and physical needs and failed to timely inform a personal representative or physician of changes in her condition.

Landers Oliver seeks damages of $50,000 plus attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorney Lawrence B. Finn of The Finn Law Firm in Chicago.
