An Elgin man is suing Suzuki and an insurance company in a dispute involving a motorcycle accident.

Christian Gonzalez filed a lawsuit Aug. 31 in Cook County Circuit Court against Suzuki Motor of America Inc. and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co.

According to the suit, on Aug. 31, 2013, the brakes on Gonzalez’s 2006 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle malfunctioned when he tried to avoid an accident near the intersection of Larkin Avenue and Worth Street in Elgin. The complaint blames Suzuki for faulty brakes and State Farm for not preserving the motorcycle as evidence after it took possession when the accident occurred.

Gonzalez seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorney Michael W. Clancy of the Clancy Law Offices in St. Charles.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-008928.
