A Cook County woman is suing an Oak Lawn hospital and other health care providers, alleging the staff's negligence caused her mother to die after an operation.
Carmen Graham, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Delores Graham, filed a lawsuit Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., Midwest Anesthesiologists, Dr. Maria Kimovec and Advocate Christ Medical Center. Thirteen other medical professionals were named as respondents in discovery.
According to the complaint, Delores Graham, 63, underwent surgery at Advocate in August 2013 to remove hardware from her left knee. Although she was tested and cleared for the operation, the suit says she died due to surgical complications caused by the defendants’ negligence.
Graham seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Larry Rogers Jr. of Power Rogers & Smith in Chicago.
