Patient alleges negligence in Villa at South Holland personal injury case

Nursing

A Cook County woman is suing a South Holland nursing home, alleging negligence in allowing her to develop an infection, causing serious, long-term injuries.

Mary Ross filed a lawsuit Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Villa at South Holland, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Ross was a resident of The Villa from Feb. 6-11, where the defendant provided general nursing and custodial care. The suit says The Villa and its staff were negligent in treating Ross, who developed skin breakdown of a surgical incision that became infected.

The lawsuit says the injuries caused the plaintiff to become disabled, suffer permanent injuries and physical and emotional pain, and owe large sums for medical care.

Ross seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000, plus litigation costs. She is represented by attorney Robert J. Rooth of The Rooth Law Firm in Evanston.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L008614.
