Patient accuses Geneva Pain Specialists of malpractice

Back pain

CHICAGO – A Cook County man is suing a health care practice, alleging doctors treating his chronic pain made a mistake that left him permanently injured.

Brian Cavin filed a recent lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Bojan Pavlovic, and Illinois Pain Specialists, doing business as Geneva Pain Specialists, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, on March 31, 2014, Cavin suffered severe, permanent injuries while under the defendants’ care for benign back pain. After performing nerve blocks in the weeks prior, the defendants performed a chemical nerve ablation that left him in greater pain and with abdominal swelling an distension, the suit says.

An expert witness consulted in the case alleges the ablation was an improper treatment.

Cavin seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorney Peter D. Tarpey of Tarpey, Jones & Schroeder LLC in Chicago.
