Wrongful death suit filed against city of Chicago

CHICAGO – An estate administrator has filed a wrongful death suit against the city of Chicago.

Sharon Weaver filed a complaint on Feb. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court the city of Chicago, citing wrongful death and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her descendant, Dejuan Taylor, was struck by a city fire truck on Sept. 3, 2010, while crossing Chicago Avenue near Central Street. The suit states he died May 28, 2012. The plaintiff holds the city of Chicago responsible because the defendant allegedly breached its duty to operate its fire truck with ordinary care as to prevent accidents and injuries to pedestrians.

The plaintiff seeks $50,000 in damages, together with costs of bringing this suit. She is represented by Gary W. Klages of the Law Office of Daniel E. Goodman LLC in Rosemont.
