CHICAGO — A customer is suing Home Depot, alleging a store's negligence caused him to fall and suffer injuries.

Sean Ronan filed a lawsuit April 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Home Depot U.S.A. Inc. alleging a Chicago store knowingly violated the Illinois Premises Liability Act by failing to keep and maintain a reasonably safe condition inside their premises.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 22, 2008, Ronan slipped and fell on oil that leaked from a pipe-cutting machine inside the Home Depot store at 2555 N. Normandy in Chicago. The suit says the fall caused Ronan to suffer a severe and permanent injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Home Depot failed to inspect its premises and identify any hazardous area to protect its customers and/or individuals lawfully inside the premises from any injuries.

Ronan requests a trial by jury and damages of $50,000, plus the costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Jeffrey S. Deutschman of Deutschman & Associates PC in Chicago.
