Disabled adult's guardian sues health care service providers

Medical malpractice 06

CHICAGO – A guardian of a disabled man alleges that he was not properly treated and suffered injuries.

Jennifer DeAngelo, as plenary guardian of Antonio DeAngelo, filed a complaint on April 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. James A. Wilcox; Advocate Health Partners, doing business as Advocate Physician Partners; Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., doing business as Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital; et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 11, 2015, Antonio DeAngelo was found by emergency personnel in a non-verbal state sitting in his car in respiratory distress. The suit states he had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to comprehensively assess Antonio DeAngelo 's condition and properly treat him when he presented himself on Feb. 29, 2015, complaining of a persistent cough with difficulty of breathing, and did not treat his high blood pressure.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount more than $50,000. She is represented by Bradley M. Cosgrove and Marta M. Kowalczyk of Clifford Law Offices PC in Chicago.
