CHICAGO — A Chicago passenger is suing United Airlines and Sky West, alleging negligence caused her to be injured during a flight.
Dana Mayber filed a lawsuit March 25, in Cook County Circuit Court against United Airlines Inc. and Sky West Airlines Inc., alleging employees failed to make sure passengers were safely secure during turbulence.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 28, 2014, aboard United flight 6378 from Chicago to Washington, D.C., Mayber sustained injuries when she hit her head on the ceiling of the aircraft during a period of turbulence. The plaintiff alleges the defendants had a responsibility to their passengers to keep them safe and secure during their flight by making sure their seat belts were securely fastened.
The suit says the plaintiff sustained pain and suffering, plus injuries of a personal and permanent nature.
Mayber seeks judgment of $50,000. She is represented by attorney Brian LaCien of Power Rogers & Smith PC in Chicago.
