Wife blames medical professionals for husband's death

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO — A widow is suing health professionals and a Chicago hospital, alleging their negligence caused her husband's death.

Leslie-Ann Kitt, as special administrator of the estate of Jeremy Kitt, deceased filed a complaint May 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Androni Henry, Dr. Lara M. Mack and Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, alleging wrongful death in failure to ensure her husband's safety.

According to the complaint, on May 9, 2014, Jeremy Kitt came under the care of Henry and Mack, and, as a proximate result of their carelessness and/or omissions, Kitt died that day.

The suit says his wife and his minor child have sustained the loss of companionship, society, money, benefits, goods and services and have endured grief, sorrow and mental anguish.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to fully evaluate Witt's condition, failed to identify that the EKG and the doubling of the troponin level was abnormal, failed to order additional serial troponin levels and repeat the EKG, failed to order a STAT consultation and failed to order a hospital admission.

Leslie-Ann Kitt seeks a trial by jury and judgment against the defendants greater than the court's jurisdictional limits, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorney Timothy Whiting of Whiting Law Group LTD in Chicago.
