Woman files suit against Silver Cross Hospital, staff over care

CHICAGO – A Park Forest woman alleges a hospital and medical staff provided improper medical care.

Barbara W. Marton filed a complaint on May 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Silver Cross Hospital and Medical Centers, Dr. Adel Mouradi and Hospitalist Consultants Group SC citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff underwent elective knee surgery on March 13, 2015. She was diagnosed with pneumoperitoneum due to a perforated sigmoid and underwent a procedure, the suit states, where a "significant amount" of stool was discovered in her pelvic region. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed reasses her when she exhibited signs of constipation and bowel obstruction, failed to timely order an abdominal CT scan and failure to provide observations of changes in her condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000. She is represented by Cari F. Silverman of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
