Walgreens accused of invasion of privacy with emails

Medical malpractice 02

CHICAGO – A man alleges a pharmacy incorrectly sent sensitive information to his father.

Daniel Witry filed a complaint on July 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Walgreen Corp. alleging negligence and invasion of privacy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages when his confidential prescription information was sent to his father's email by the defendant on two separate occasions. The plaintiff holds Walgreen Corp. responsible because the plaintiff did not authorize the defendant to email the information to his father and did not provide it, failed to obey plaintiff's directions and failed to have safeguards in place.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $50,000 plus any further relief the court grants. He is represented by John M. Power of Cogan & Power PC in Chicago.
