Suit filed against doctors, hospital claiming surgery complications caused woman's death

Medical malpractice 02

CHICAGO – An estate administrator alleges his mother died from complications from a hernia surgery.

Maurice Williams, individually and as independent administrator of the estate of Lynn Williams, filed a complaint on July 11 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Robert Watkins, M.D.; Anil Lamba, M.D., F.A.C.S.; and St. James Hospital alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in December 2007, Lynn Williams underwent a hernia repair surgery and died as a result of a perforated bowel that occurred during the procedure. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly evaluate Lynn Williams' post-operative complications and provide proper treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Stephanie K. Nathanson of Law Offices of Stephanie K. Nathanson in Chicago.
