Law money 10

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate is suing Aurora Pac LLC, The Grove of Fox Valley, Aurora Rehabilitation & Living Center and Legacy Healthcare Financial Services LLC, in a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Harvey Balfour, special administrator of the estate of Easter Balfour, filed a complaint on July 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Easter Balfour.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that after her admission in February 2015, Easter Balfour developed a decubitus ulcer and dehydration, and that negligence in her care contributed to or caused her death on April 4, 2015. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Easter Balfour to make sure she was always rehydrated as well as failing to provide timely medical attention to her decubitus ulcer to avoid infection.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. He is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
