CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate is suing Applewood Rehabilitation Center LLC d/b/a Applewood Rehabilitation Center; Generations at Applewood LLC d/b/a Applewood Rehabilitation Center; Ihidia Miguel, R.N.; Marge Hawkins, R.N.; Dianne O'Connor, R.N.; and S.I.R. Management Inc., in a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in nursing home care.
Mary Depasquale, as independent administrator of the estate of Joyce Purser, filed a complaint on July 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Joyce Purser.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 6, 2014, Purser suffered a fall which caused an acute subdural hematoma, contributing to or causing her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to implement certain precautions to address Purser's fall risk or to provide adequate supervision to her at all times.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional requirements of this court plus any further relief the court grants. She is represented by James M. Roche of Theisen & Roche, Ltd. in Wheaton.
