Plaintiff alleges negligence led to pressure ulcers

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate is suing CC Care LLC; Community Care Center; CC Chicago LLC; Community Care Operator LLC; South Shore Hospital Corporation; South Shore Hospital; and South Shore Hospital Auxilliary, in a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in medical care.

Patricia Novy, as special administrator of the estate of Barbara Novy, filed a complaint on July 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical attention and treatment to Barbara Novy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Barbara Novy developed pressure ulcers due to negligence on the defendants' part. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to Barbara Novy in order to avoid the development of pressure ulcers or to provide timely medical treatment to her to keep the ulcers from getting worse.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
