Medical patient alleges lack of training

Medical malpractice 01

CHICAGO — A man is suing Giovanni D. Giannotti, M.D.; Giovanni D. Giannotti, M.D., S.C.; Boffa Surgical Group, L.L.C.; and Boffa Surgical Group, alleging negligence in medical care.

Gabriel Ponce filed a complaint on July 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide him with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July 2014, he sustained severe and permanent injuries that required additional medical treatment. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly performed a robotic-assisted cholecystectomy on him despite not having adequate training in the procedure.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for an amount the court deems just. He is represented by David B. Selig of Sussman, Selig & Ross in Chicago.
