CHICAGO — A man is suing Urban Esencia Kitchen, d/b/a Esencia Urban Kitchen, alleging that he was negligently served tainted food.

Hunter Lehr filed a complaint on July 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendant, alleging that Esencia Urban Kitchen served him food that was contaminated with salmonella.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in August 2014, he suffered physical injuries and experienced pain from consuming food tainted with salmonella. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the restaurant allegedly failed to make sure that the food it served was free of salmonella.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $30,000. He is represented by Bart Torvik of Torvik Law LLC in Evanston and Ryan Osterholm of Pritzkerolsen in Minneapolis.
