CHICAGO — A man and woman are suing Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, dba Amita Health Adventist Medical Center, Bolingbrook, Amita Health, and two unknown defendants, accusing the defendants of misleading them into believing their mother's body could be donated for medical science following her death.
Susan Castellanos and Michael Castellanos filed a complaint on Aug. 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they misinformed them regarding how to handle the remains of their mother.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that, in 2016, the Castellanoses suffered damages due to not being able to carry out their mother's main wish: to be donated for medical science after her death. The plaintiffs holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly assured the plaintiffs arrangements were in order for the remains of their mother to be transferred to a research group.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek actual damages, punitive damages, court costs and other relief. They are represented by attorney Michael J. Fleck of Fleck & Meyers, P.A. in Huntley.
