CHICAGO — A man is suing Dupage Medical Group, Ltd., DMG Surgical Center, LLC, d/b/a Surgical Center of Dupage Medical Group, and David Dehaan, M.D., health providers, alleging they left a surgical sponge inside a surgical wound.
James Stelter filed a complaint on Aug. 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to provide proper medical care to him.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between 2012 and 2016, he experienced pain from having a surgical sponge left inside his abdomen. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to make sure a surgical sponge was removed from his body before closing up the surgical wound.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants, court costs and other relief. He is represented by John A. Kornak of the Law Offices of Thomas J. Popovich, P.C. in McHenry.
