Insurer accuses plumbing company of negligence in fire

Insurance 02

CHICAGO — An insurance company is suing Ability Plumbing & Sewerage Company, a plumbing company, citing alleged negligence.

Auto-Owners Insurance Company filed a complaint on Aug. 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against Ability Plumbing & Sewerage Company, alleging that the plumbing company caused a fire in the void space above unit 6 at the Park Willow property.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 2015, Auto-Owners Insurance Company suffered damages resulting from the fire at the Park Willow property. The plaintiff holds Ability Plumbing & Sewerage Company responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise caution while using a hand-held torch.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Robert Ostojic of Leahy, Eisenberg & Fraenkel, Ltd. in Chicago.
