CHICAGO — A patient is suing Robert J. Hughes, a doctor and employee of Advocate Health, citing alleged battery, negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Plaintiff Erika Lord filed a complaint on Aug. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they allowed the doctor to take advantage of her.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in 2007 when she was 17, Hughes began an inappropriate sexual relationship with her, leading to severe and permanent internal and external injuries. The plaintiff holds Hughes responsible along with his employers for allegedly failing to properly supervise the actions of Hughes or take appropriate actions regarding his misconduct.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant of more than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Charles R. Culbertson of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum, Ltd. in Chicago.
