CHICAGO — A former resident of a treatment center for adolescent girls with emotional disabilities is suing BHC Streamwood Hospital Inc., Rockford Acquisition Sub Inc., Universal Health Services Inc. and Rock River Academy and Residential Center, alleging that the facility negligently subjected her to emotional distress by placing another resident known to have a history of sexual assaults as her roommate.
T.R. filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide her with proper care and safety.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, she suffered damages as a result of inappropriate touching, fondling, sexual assault and rape by her roommate, W.C. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to her during her stay at their facility.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Philip J. Fowler of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg, L.L.C. in Chicago.
