Alden Estates of Barrington accused of negligence in resident's care

CHICAGO — A deceased woman's family is suing Alden Estates of Barrington Inc., alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Dewayne Lyle, as independent administrator of the estate of Carolyn Lyle, filed a complaint on Sept. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alden Estates, alleging that the nursing facility failed to provide proper care to Carolyn Lyle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during her residency at the nursing home, Carolyn Lyle developed pressure ulcers and respiratory distress which contributed to the deterioration of her health. The plaintiff holds Alden Estates of Barrington Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision at all times to Carolyn Lyle in order to avoid the development of pressure ulcer and failed to identify the signs of her respiratory distress and apply the appropriate treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount sufficient to satisfy the jurisdictional requirements of the court plus court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Jeffrey Schlapp of Schlapp Law Group LLC in Chicago.
