Property owner accuses Pie Five Restaurants of breach of contract, demands $1.4M

CHICAGO — A property owner is suing tenant Pie Five Restaurants Inc., citing alleged breach of contract, costing more than $1 million.

GW Property Group L.L.C. - Series 18 filed a complaint on Sept. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pie Five Restaurants Inc., alleging that the Texas corporation breached its contractual agreement with the plaintiff by failing to acknowledge the plaintiff's calls and emails regarding the property.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from the breach of a lease agreement. The plaintiff holds Pie Five Restaurants Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to obtain construction permits needed for the property and is in default of its lease.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of no less than $1.4 million, plus ongoing damages and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Jay S. Berlin and Shawn C. Clancy of Jaffe & Berlin, L.L.C. in Chicago.
