CHICAGO — A patient is suing medical care providers over allegations that an infection was not diagnosed and treated due to negligence.

Joe Gust filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Frank Phillips, Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, Rush University Medical Center, Dr. Megan McAllister and Edward Hospital, alleging that they failed to provide him with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, he underwent back surgery and then suffered from an untreated infection. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to diagnose his condition and provide the necessary treatment for his infection.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Keith L. Young.
