Family blames woman's death at Alden nursing home on fall caused by mistreated UTI

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate has filed a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Celestine Liberty-Clinton, as independent administrator of the estate of Lestine Sanders, filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alden Wentworth Rehabilitation & Health Care Center; Alden Management Services, Inc.; and four nurses, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Sanders.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Sanders experienced falls and multiple physical disorders, and that failure to provide proper care led to conditions that contributed to her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to implement a care plan to address Sanders' fall risk as well as to prevent her from dehydration and from having urinary tract infections.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount sufficient to compensate her. She is represented by Jacqueline Kanter of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
