CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in medical care, saying several doctors and Northwestern Medicine should be held responsible for allegedly failing to address a cancerous mass in the man's liver.
Margaret Pustilnik, independent executor of the estate of Jeffrey Pustilnik, filed a complaint on Oct. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against doctors identified as Daniel Ganger, Cecil Wood, David Casalino, Vahid Yaghmai, Nancy Hammond, Gretchen Foltz, Senta Berggruen, Ramona Gupta, and Northwestern Medicine, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Jeffrey Pustilnik.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Pustilnik was harmed by the failure to properly address a liver mass from 2011 to 2014, contributing to his death from liver cancer. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly evaluate Pustilnik's overall health condition and perform necessary tests to make sure that he received proper treatment.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Bradley Z. Schulman of Motherway & Napleton, LLP in Chicago.
