Warren Barr South Loop accused of failure to properly supervise resident who died

CHICAGO — A deceased woman's family has filed a wrongful death claim against nursing home Warren Barr South Loop and Warren Barr Nursing Pavilion LLC, alleging the woman was suffocated when her ventilator failed.

James G. Mallory, as special representative of the estate of Doris Mallory, filed a complaint on Oct. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Doris Mallory.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Mallory died of suffocation when a ventilator stopped working. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to Mallory.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Jeremy L. Geller of Trapp & Geller in Chicago.
