Mid America Care Center accused of wrongful death of Chicago woman

Medical malpractice 02

CHICAGO – The family of a deceased Chicago woman claims improper care at a nursing facility caused her death.

Oscar Villatoro Jr., as independent administrator of the estate of Maria C. Villatoro, filed a complaint on Oct. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Mid America Care Center LLC, citing the Nursing Home Care Act and the Wrongful Death Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Maria C. Villatoro suffered from pressure ulcers and a urinary tract infection that purportedly contributed to her death in November 2015 while under the defendant's care. The plaintiff holds Mid America Care Center LLC, responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Villatoro to prevent the development of pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Brian K. Hetzer of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg LLC in Chicago.
