CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against California Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Sylvia Hamilton, as independent administrator of the estate of Lenzy Hamilton, filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against California Gardens, alleging Hamilton developed emesis and suffered from septic shock after he fell and was noted to have a skin tear on his back. His condition contributed to his death, the plaintiff alleges.

The plaintiff alleges California Gardens failed to provide adequate supervision to Hamilton to address any changes in his condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Michael F. Sullivan of Sukhman Yagoda in Chicago.
