Calumet City resident says dog owners failed to control pets

CHICAGO — A Calumet City resident is suing two pet owners, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries, negligence, and violation of federal law.

Heriberto Gonzalez filed a complaint on March 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Bobby Dejohnette and Musonza Musoni, alleging they allowed their pet dogs to attack the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in Aug. 5, 2015, he was attacked and bitten by a dog, which the defendants allegedly failed to restrain.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. He is represented by David A. Statham and Stephanie L. Hovanec of Newman, Boyer & Statham Ltd. in Chicago.
